Art-in-the-Barn  at the Concours de la Chapelle

& Plein Air Paint Out 

The Artistry is proud to partner with Chapelle de L’Artiste for an Art-in-the-Barn Art Show and Plein Air Paint Out benefiting the Northern California Ballet.

The Northern California Ballet has given hundreds of children an opportunity to pursue their dreams of dance and has brought the finest of ballet performances to our area for the enjoyment and enrichment of our local arts culture.

The Big Event:  Councours de la Chapelle

 Now in its third year, the “Concours de la Chapelle” is rapidly becoming regionally recognized as one of the most elegant and fun social events in Butte County. It attracts car owners and attendees from all over the state and beyond. This is a multi-faceted event showcasing classic cars, an art show, ballet dancers, jazz, local food, and spirits with the backdrop of one of the northstate’s most unique B&B’s. This event will take place on August 27, 2011 from 5-10pm.

The Location: Chapelle de L’Artiste, 3300 Inspiration Lane, Paradise, CA 95969

 As you enter this property through the expansive gates of Inspiration Lane, you're drawn to the quaint chapel that sits at the top of the hill, which provided the inspiration for the name of the property, "Chapelle de L'Artiste" or "Chapel of the Artist".  The classically-styled barn which currently functions as the owner’s studio, sits under oak trees to the left and is serenaded by a 3-tiered water fountain in the center of the drive and kept watch over by three curious llamas.

Art-in-the-Barn at the Concours de la Chapelle

This year’s theme for this art show consists of the two major things that make up the Concours de la Chapelle event: Classic European Cars and the beautiful Paradise foothills. Artists whose subjects fit into this theme are invited to submit work. All media will be considered.

Rules of Entry:

• Accepted applicants will have at least one work in the show.
• All work must be for sale and available to display and sell during the art show.
• All work must be wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers are allowed. Each piece must be clearly identified.
• A 20% commission will be taken from the sale of the art. 15% of this will be given to the Northern California Ballet.

Application Requirements:

• The art show (see fees below) application is due by Saturday, July 23^rd. All applicants will be informed of accepted work by Friday, July 29^th.
• All artists can submit 5 jpgs (72dpi) of art for the art show to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If they are on a cd, send to The Artistry, P.O. Box 4717, Chico, CA 95927.
• The entry must include a list with the name of each piece entered, as well as, the price, medium, and size.

Art Drop Off Date: Thurs., August 25^th between 9-11am at 3300 Inspiration Lane, in Paradise.

Art Pick Up Date: Between  10-10:30pm the night of the show (Sat., August 27^th), or, Sun.,                          August 28^th between 9-11am.

Plein Air Paint Out

Along side the art show, the Chapelle de L’Artiste is hosting a Plein Air Paint Out on it’s own stunning property. The Paint Out will consist of 4 summer weekends: June 11^th/12^th, June 18^th/19^th, July 9^th/10^th, and August 6^th/7^th. On the first Saturday of the paint out (June 11^th) at 10:00am a complimentary brunch and tour of the property will kick off the event.

Rules of Entry:

• All artists participating in the Paint Out must come to the brunch and tour on the first day of the paint out, Saturday, June 11^th at 10am.
• All artists are free to come and go to the property between the hours of 9am-7pm during the specified days for the paint out and must stay within the areas designated during the initial tour.
• All artists are responsible for their own art supplies and tools and must take them down each evening before they leave unless special permission is given by the owner.

3 Entry Fee Choices

1. Art-in-the-Barn (only): $25 (non-refundable) for up to 5 pieces. Due by July 23^rd.

2. Plein Air Paint Out (only): $20, includes: all 4 weekends and a complimentary brunch and tour of the property. Due by June 10^th.

3. Art-in-the-Barn AND Plein Air Paint Out: $40, includes: all 4 weekends, a complimentary brunch and tour of the property, and up to 5 pieces in the Art Show at the Concours de la Chapelle. Payment due by June 10^th, Art-in-the-barn application due by July 23^rd.

Make checks payable toThe Artistry and mail it to P.O. Box 4717, Chico, CA 95927. Your cancelled check will be your receipt. 50% of the entry fees will be given to the Northern California Ballet.

Liability: The Artistry, Chapelle de L’ Artiste, and the Northern California Ballet will not be responsible for loss or damage to artwork or any artist’s art supplies regardless of the cause. By participation in the event each artist will be deemed to have agreed to this stipulation.
